Program Overview

Medical assistants are multi-skilled, allied healthcare professionals responsible for various clinical and/or administrative duties and are an essential part of a healthcare team. The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions that will allow them to learn and move into higher level job opportunities by working with physicians and providers in office settings. Students in the program learn cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains by focusing on administrative and back-office clinical skills. Upon successful completion of all required courses, students participate in an externship in a medical office.

Graduates of the Medical Assisting program are eligible to take a national certification exam.

Classroom Hours
This is a hybrid program. Complete coursework online and come to the classroom for labs and hands-on skills.

Eve: M-Th 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

MFTE1036Introduction to Industrial Automation4$380This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the essential skills and principles of industrial automation, encompassing industrial mechanics, lean manufacturing, electrical and pneumatic systems, motor control systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Participants will gain hands-on experience with basic hand tools, learn productivity-enhancing lean methodologies, and acquire skills in machinery maintenance and troubleshooting. The curriculum also covers the fundamentals of AC/DC systems, pneumatic systems, motor control principles, and the operation and application of PLCs in industrial settings. Upon completion, participants will earn their OSHA 10 certification, equipping them with both foundational knowledge and practical skills for success in the field of industrial automation.

Background Check and Drug Testing  

  • All students must complete a background check and a random drug test. 
  • You need a Social Security Number or ITIN to do the background check. 
  • Criminal charges from the last 7 years will show up. In Utah, juvenile records are not sealed.  
  • You must complete hands-on training at a job site to finish the program. A criminal record or positive drug test could prevent that. 
  • If you can’t finish your program because of your background or a positive drug test, no refunds will be given. 
  • If you have a criminal record, talk to the Program Coordinator before you enroll. 

Vaccination Information: 

  • The program requires hands-on training at a job site.  
  • Job sites may ask students to get the COVID-19 vaccine before placement.  
  • If you have questions, please talk to your Program Coordinator.

Lori Jensen is a certified medical assistant with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field. She holds an associate’s degree and has built her career around a deep passion for helping others and improving patient care. For the past 10 years, Lori has served as a manager of a busy multispecialty practice, where she has led teams, streamlined operations, and fostered a culture of excellence and compassion.

In her current role as a Medical Assistant Coordinator and Instructor, Lori is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her hands-on experience and commitment to education make her a trusted guide for students entering the medical field.

Outside of her professional life, Lori enjoys baking, crafting, traveling, and spending quality time with her family. Her creativity and warmth are evident both in her personal interests and in the care she brings to her work.
