Starting January 2021, Ogden-Weber Technical College Foundation will be awarding a new scholarship in memory of alumnus Aaron Griffin. The Aaron Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund will assist students that complete the Youth Build program and show a drive and promise to go on and complete additional education at the college.
Aaron Michael Griffin came into this world as a happy, adventurous boy. He lived life on his terms. He left this life the same way. He struggled in traditional school settings but thrived within a vocational, hands-on environment. After being a year behind in his high school credits, he became a part of Youth Build and was able to earn his diploma with honors just one month shy of his 17th birthday. He went on after completing the Youth Build program and a few years later began the Sales and Marketing program at Bridgerland Technical College. He had a taste of academic success and desired more.
Aaron will forever be remembered as a leader and non-conformist, a compassionate giver to friends and the community, a strong work ethic, and for having a great sense of humor and quick wit amongst peers, teachers, and community leaders. The day before his death, he selflessly and without hesitation rescued a woman from a burning car, saving her life and was thus honored at his memorial service by the Plain City Fire Department.
