OGDEN, UT — OTECH celebrated outstanding students on Oct. 23 by welcoming 102 new members into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) at the fall induction ceremony.
The ceremony recognized students in Automotive Technology, Welding, Culinary Arts, Information Technology, and healthcare programs who are among the top 5% in their programs each semester.
Former Medical Coding and Billing program coordinator and former NTHS committee member Marilyn Holley notes the value of NTHS membership for students.
“Being nominated for induction into the National Technical Honor Society sets students apart because it highlights the exceptional achievements they are making in technical education and provides an opportunity for recognition on both college and nation-wide bases.”

Membership in NTHS provides students with a lifetime of benefits, including scholarships, letters of recommendation and added credentials on resumes. Those nominated for induction also receive exclusive regalia to wear at graduation and have their NTHS membership noted on certificates and transcripts.
For students, NTHS membership adds an important credential to their resumes, helping them stand out in the job market. And once a student becomes a member, they are a member for life, gaining ongoing access to resources that support career success.
“As a member of National Technical Honor Society, students will have an advantage in the job market because of the high standards associated with NTHS,” Marilyn added. “Employers will recognize the value of an employee who exemplifies the attributes of skill, scholarship, leadership, honesty, responsibility, service and citizenship.”
At OTECH, the college covers the initial membership cost, removing financial barriers for students interested in joining NTHS can speak with their program coordinator to learn how to get involved. They can also visit otech.edu/nths.
