OGDEN, UT – At Ogden-Weber Tech (OTECH), students like Joseph Chadburn are turning goals into careers—thanks to hands-on training, and a scholarship that helped make it all possible. Joseph grew up just 15 minutes from OTECH and is currently enrolled in the Automation Technology program where he’s gaining the skills that pay!
Why did Joseph choose the Automation Technology program? Because he loves robotics.
“I have an engineering-type mind,” Joseph said. “I like to build things, and I just want to make the world a better place. I figured this program would be a good start.”
At OTECH, students are prepared to excel in the automation industry through hands-on training. From day one, students spend more time learning with real-world tools and from industry experts, than behind books and computers. In the Automation Technology program, students are learning the hands-on skills of motor controls, electrical systems, and industrial mechanics.
For Joseph, this was exciting work but pursuing his career brought the challenge of how to pay for school. After a few months of paying tuition on his own, Joseph decided to look into scholarship opportunities at OTECH. He found one he matched with and applied.
“When I got it, it was a miracle,” Joseph said. “I live and work on my own, so it’s helped financially. It was like an answer to my prayers. If I didn’t get it, I wouldn’t know what would happen.”
Joseph’s experience is just one of several that shows how scholarships can make a difference! At OTECH, there are thousands of dollars available to help students pay for school expenses like tuition, books, and materials, as paying for school shouldn’t be a barrier to reaching career goals.
With graduation on the horizon, Joseph is looking forward to applying the skills he’s learned in the Automation Technology program to a job in the industry —and eventually, open his own business. All goals that wouldn’t be possible without looking into scholarship opportunities.
Financial Aid advisors are available to provide one-on-one guidance for students, so paying for school can be as easy as ever. Students can schedule an appointment with an advisor and explore scholarship opportunities at otech.edu/scholarships.
