Complete coursework remotely and come into the classroom only for labs and hands-on skills. Electrical Trades Preparation

While the apprenticeships meet the need of individuals who are already working in industry, the Electrical Trades Preparation Certificate was developed to meet the preparatory needs of individuals who are not yet employed in the field. The Electrical Trades Preparation Certificate allows high school and adult students to gain knowledge and hands-on experience before entering an Apprenticeship program.

The Electrical Trades Preparation program meets the preparatory needs of individuals who are not yet employed in the field or individuals who are first-year apprentices maintaining their related technical instruction (RTI) in line with on-the-job training (OJT). The program allows high school and adult students to gain knowledge and hands-on experience with industry-standard practices.



Program Objectives To successfully complete the program, students must demonstrate competency in specific skills and verify their knowledge of industry-standard practices. Program objectives include the following skills and topics: Safety in the work setting Proper usage of the basic electrical hand tools Identify the articles of the National Electrical Code and safe application of rules and regulations to residential, commercial Introduction to Electrical Theory Basic residential wiring rough-in and finish procedures
