We have many scholarship opportunities to help you pay for school. These scholarships allow you to focus on your education while worrying less about how to pay. Helping students find ways to afford school is one of our favorite things. Apply now and take the first step toward reaching your goals!

OTECH Scholarships for Adults

Technical Education Scholarship

Award: Full tuition for one program

Application Deadline: NA

Scholarship will pay for tuition and required textbooks for one high-demand technical education program. High school seniors who will be graduating are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

Qualifications for students: Programs must be 13 credit hours or more in length and students must have completed three credit hours and must have a current schedule to be eligible.

All students must have at least an 80% completion rate. Applications are due on the first Friday of each month.

Nursing Assistant Learn and Work Scholarship

The Nursing Assistant Scholarship was created to assist students seeking a certificate. This scholarship covers tuition while students maintain satisfactory progress.

After completing the application, the Financial Aid office will email the award letter stating the amount the student has been awarded.

Jon H. Poteat Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Application Window: September 1 – May 1

Named in honor and memory of our NTHS Co-Founder, the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship is reserved exclusively for active NTHS members. Active members may apply once per scholarship cycle. Through the support of the Build Your Future (an NCCER initiative), NTHS annually awards five scholarships to current NTHS members. Named in honor of NTHS Co-Founder and longtime Executive Director, this alumni scholarship supports NTHS Alumni who plan to continue their education and skill development. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women program has been helping women around the world since 1972.

The Domaine Scholarship

Award: $2,000 per semester, awarded to one student

Mann Lake Beekeeping Scholarship

Award: $1,000

The Mann Lake Scholarship offers a one-time award of $1,000 to cover educational-related costs, including tuition, books, computers, room and board, and other educational expenses.

Application Criteria:

For a chance to win the scholarship, write a 500-word essay on any of the following topics:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be a legal resident of the United States or hold a valid student visa

Scholarships for High School Seniors

Technical Education Scholarship

Award: NA

Application Deadline: August 31, 2025

Scholarship will pay for tuition and required textbooks for one high-demand technical education program. High school seniors who will be graduating are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

To be eligible, students must be recent high school graduates who are enrolled in a designated high-demand technical education program and who have completed a FAFSA. They must be certificate seeking with the intention of completing the program. The award duration is until program completion or when the student is no longer enrolled at the college.

Summer Scholarship

All graduating high school seniors eligible. Covers tuition for any courses started between graduation and August 31, 2025 in any available program.

Young Parent Scholarship

Award: NA

High school students or graduates who are within the calendar year of their graduation date and who are involved with the Young Parent Program are eligible for this dedicated scholarship, which offers tuition assistance for the duration of a program for adult students or assistance with books and supplies for high school students.

What is required to keep my scholarship funding?

To keep your scholarship funding, you must keep Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP).

Adult Scholarship 80% SAP
Students need to complete 80% of credits taken.

All Other Scholarships 67% SAP
Students need to complete 67% of credits taken.

How do I calculate my academic performance?

Equation: (number of credits completed ÷ number of credits attempted = academic performance)

4 credits completed ÷ 6 credits taken = 67%
7 credits completed ÷ 12 credits taken = 58%

How much schoolwork should I get done each week?

At OTECH, 100% on-time completion means:

  • Part-time students – Must complete 1 credit every 2 weeks.
  • Full-time students – Must complete 1 credit every week.

What happens if my scholarship money runs out, but I’m not done with my program?

The Financial Aid and Scholarship team can help you to find other possible ways to help pay for school.

What is the Summer Scholarship and who can receive it?

A scholarship given to all graduating high school seniors that covers tuition for all courses started after high school graduation through the end of August.

Why do I have to write a thank you letter?

Our donors love hearing how their support changes students’ lives. Sharing your stories shows them the difference they make for individuals and families and inspires them to keep funding scholarships for our students.

What if I have a scholarship from an outside organization?

We can help with that. Just contact a member of our Financial Aid and Scholarship team and they will walk you through the process.

When and how will I get my award letter?

If you apply for and receive a scholarship, the OTECH Financial Aid team will send you an award letter in an email. This letter shows how much money you can receive and how it will be given to you.

When will I receive my scholarship funding?

Before classes begin, we’ll let you know what your scholarship can cover and share information about other financial aid that you may be eligible for. To get your scholarship before classes start, be sure to send all needed information to the Financial Aid office.

What are the terms and definitions for scholarships?

Scholarship – Free money for school that you don’t have to pay back, often given to the school by generous community donors.

Summer Scholarship – A scholarship given to all graduating high school seniors that covers tuition for all courses started after high school graduation through the end of August.

Merit Based Scholarship – A scholarship awarded to students who have demonstrated excellent academic performance.

Need-Based – Financial need is determined by the student’s completed FAFSA.

Application Deadline – The last day you can apply for a scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria – The rules you must meet to qualify for a scholarship.

Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP) – The minimum academic performance standards a student must meet to qualify for and keep financial aid. SAP is met by completing a specific percentage of the credits taken.

Equation: (number of credits completed ÷ number of credits attempted = academic performance)

Award Amount – The total money a scholarship provides.

Thank You Letter – A brief note of gratitude you write to the donor when applying for a scholarship.

Program-Specific Scholarship – A scholarship for students enrolled in a particular program.

Outside Scholarship – A scholarship from a group or organization outside OTECH.

Award Letter – A document that tells you how much money you’re getting from a scholarship.
