Hybrid instruction is a mixture of in-person work and online instruction. Complete coursework remotely and come into the classroom only for labs and hands-on skills.

A pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in a retail or hospital setting to store, prepare, and dispense medicines. Responsibilities include inventory, ordering, labeling, storing, and distributing medicines, working with patient records, billing information, gathering information for the pharmacist, and the distribution of printed information to the patient.
Students who complete the program and pass a national certification exam will be eligible to apply for a Utah pharmacy technician license. A valid U.S. Social Security number and government-issued ID is required for licensure. See detailed information for non-U.S. citizens.

The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to assist pharmacists in retail, hospital, and specialty pharmacy settings. Students will learn the skills needed to store, prepare, and dispense medications. Students will learn the knowledge necessary to assume responsibilities which include inventory management; ordering, labeling, storing, and distributing medications; working with patients records and billing information; gathering information for pharmacists, and distributing printed information to patients. Student will learn how to compound medications in a non-sterile and sterile setting. Students will learn how to administer immunizations according to DOPL protocol. High School students must be a minimum of 17 years old to enroll into the program and be turning 18 by the completion of the program. Successful completion of the program and the PTCE meets the requirements for state licensure.

Meet with Rebecca → Location: Health Tech 103Christina is the Coordinator for the Pharmacy Technician Program. She completed the Davis Technical College Pharmacy Technician Program in 2009 and has worked for 14 years as a Pharmacy Technician before becoming an instructor in 2018. Christina earned her advanced pharmacy technician certification in 2021. Christina has work experience in compounding, community and hospital pharmacy settings. She has a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in healthcare management from Western Governors University.

They are available to assist students who have questions regarding their program, progress and attendance, and program changes. The specialist can assist students with campus and program policies or procedures, student rights, as well as the policy and processes involved in student complaints. The student support staff is also available to discuss personal/family matters, address emergency situations, and provide referrals to college and community services.
