Program Requirements

Students should be employed as an Apprentice Plumber and have an Apprentice Plumbing License from the Utah Division of Public Licensure (DOPL), or have proof of licensure application, prior to enrolling. For more information on licenses please contact https://dopl.utah.gov or call 801-530-6628.

Students that are not employed and do not have a plumbing license should secure employment and apply for licensure within the first few months of training or it may negatively impact the work hours required to take their apprentice licensure test.

Plumber Apprentices are not required to register with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship (OA). However, a certificate from the OA is recognized nationally and internationally. All government contracts are required to have a percentage of registered apprentices working on the job. As soon as a person is employed as a Plumbing Apprentice, your employer may contact the Office of Apprenticeship to register you as an apprentice with the US Department of Labor. For more information contact Pat Miller, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, 801-425-2211, miller.patsy@dol.gov, 125 South State Street, STE 2412, SLC, UT 84138.
