Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

Ogden-Weber Technical College (OTECH) has received Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding. Students may receive emergency financial aid for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Expenses associated with a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, health care, child care, and technology (laptop, software, etc.), are eligible.


About CARES

Requirements to receive the CARES are:

  • Student certifies that COVID-19 disrupted his/her OTECH education and caused expense(s) as referenced above.
  • Student was enrolled in a certificate program or scheduled to start a certificate program effective March 13, 2020. Online programs, such as Business, are excluded.
  • Student had a cumulative attendance and progress of 67 percent or higher.
  • The OTECH Financial Aid Office had a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for student by May 7, 2020, or earlier.

A FAFSA is considered valid if:

  • Student has not defaulted on any federal student loan.
  • FAFSA includes an EFC number (Expected Family Contribution).
  • Registration of Selective Service verified (males).
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship verified.
  • No drug convictions within certain time limits

Emails and letters will be sent to eligible students no later than June 1, 2020, with directions to register for funding.
